“As our Ready To Run candidates parade before the judges at Monday’s gallops in Randjesfontein, the Hartford House team faces a similar fate on Sunday (20th) when the nation gets to know the names of the top ten restaurants in the country.”
— Mick Goss / Summerhill CEO
It’s one thing standing out in a foal crop of 3500, it’s another entirely when you’re one of more than 80 000 restaurants in South Africa in the glare of millions of “wannabee” food fanciers.
On the farm, we know the pressure that comes from the trials of the Ready To Run, yet we can hardly imagine the heat that comes with being in the finals for the “Top Ten” kitchen; we can only applaud Head Chef Tijn Hahndiek and co for their matchless performance in their first year of eligibility. It doesn’t stop there though, it’s a combo of everything that sets Hartford House apart, the ambiance of the place, the professionalism and the authenticity of those in front, and let’s wave a flag for our local suppliers, too, without whom we’re “nothing”.
One day, maybe, just maybe, the celebration of these two big events in our lives will be uncoupled, so that their alignment is such that we can be part of both. To Duncan, Tijn and their teams, and to Cheryl whose dream came true in Hartford’s creation, know that we are with you every yard of your gallop, just as we know you will be with us and our steeds on Monday.
