We were warmly greeted and shown into a large suite, once occupied by General Louis Botha, the first Prime Minister of South Africa. It was extremely comfortable and well heated and there is also an open fireplace in the room, which we did not need.

We had an excellent lunch and then had a walk around the lake. That evening we were treated to a 5 course meal with wine pairings. In the morning, after a brilliant breakfast, we reluctantly departed. From the time of arrival to our departure we were looked after extremely well by a dedicated and capable staff.

Hartford House is not cheap, but excellence of this nature seldom is. Highly recommended.
