A personal favourite of mine is Hartford House (near Mooi River). With paddocks full of some of the country’s finest thoroughbred horses to greet you as you drive in, this vast estate has plenty to offer, from views to luxury accommodation. Their holiday menus are out of this world and have top-notch wine pairings to boot. Also well worth a visit are Granny Mouse’s Country House (in Balgowan) and Tumble Downs Café and Restaurant (just outside Howick).
